The Tenuta Tre Cancelli lies near the Tyrrhenian coast at the feet of the Ceriti mountains, on a spur of volcanic rock known as "tufo". Here the climate is mild and ideal, the earth rich in potassium and phosphorus. The scarsity of organic materials, due to the volcanic origins, favors a production that is limited in quantity but of a high level of quality. The vineyards of Tenuta Tre Cancelli, from which 100% of the grapes that are fermented and the wine that is bottled come, are cultivated in Trebbiano, Malvasia, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Merlot and Syrah.
After more that fifty years of experience and hard work of the De Rinaldis family, in 2001 the Cantina was estabilished and the business passed to Liborio, the son. The prestigious prizes Calix Aureus for the Litio 2002 and the "diploma di merito" for the Pacha 2002, both awarded in the context of the wine Selections of Latium of 2004, are fully representative of the quality and the success of the wines of the Tenuta Tre Cancelli.

Wines

LITUO
In Etruscan times, Lituo was a small club curved at one end, records of which exist from as far as the first half of the sixth century B.C. It was a distinctive attribute of leader-lords, and evidently carried not only a political significance but a religious one as well. This wine, produced from a careful selection of MERLOT grapes, is an expression of the territory that owes its particular qualities to the volcanic earth and its climate, mild due to the nearness to the sea. Lituo isn't filtered, and therefore may contain some sediment, a guarantee of its naturalness.
Grapevines: 100% Merlot.
Combinations: Second dishes based on red meat and game, and medium- and long-aged cheese.

PACHA
For the Etruscans, Pacha was the name of the cult of the divinity known as Fufluns, identified with the Greek god Dionysius and the Roman Bacchus. Pacha was also known in relation to the course of the sun during the year, as is fitting for a god of vegetation. This wine, produced with an accurate selection of MONTEPULCIANO, SANGIOVESE and MERLOT grapes, is an expression of the territory that owes its particular qualities to the volcanic earth and its climate, mild due to the nearness to the sea.
Grapevines: 40% Sangiovese, 40% Montepulciano, 20% Merlot.
Combinations: First dishes based on meat sauces and second dishes based on red meat and game.

FLERE
Flere is an Etruscan "name". In Latin it means "to cry". This second meaning recalls the emotional moment in which, naturally reawakened in springtime, the grapevines "cry", tha is, a drop of lymph comes out of the pruned branches. There is an obvious assonance between "flere" and "flower". What better name could there be for such a wine of such perfume? Flere is produced with a careful selection of CHARDONNAY grapes, expressive of the territory that owes its particular qualities to the volcanic earth and its climate, mild due to the nearness to the sea.
Grapevines:
100% Chardonnay.
Combinations: First and second dishes based on baked, stewed, dressed fish and vegetables.

MASTARNA
This wine, named Mastarna after the Etruscan military leader who reached Rome and took over under the name of Servio Tullio, the sixth king (578-534 B.C.), is produced from the careful selection of TREBBIANO and MALVASIA grapes, is the expression of the territory that owes its particular qualities to the volcanic earth and its climate, mild due to the nearness to the sea.
Grapevines:
70% Trebbiano, 30% Malvasia.
Combinations: First and second courses of sautéed or fried fish.
